Mandi is inspired by the natural world and is best known for her painted feathers. Inspiration comes from the birds of prey she was fortunate to work with and care for. Forming a close bond with the birds, their quirky personalities and intricate feathers particularly inspired her and are now intrinsic to her work. It is a rare opportunity to see the detail of these stunning birds up close, but through painting the birds she has grown to love, Mandi is happy to share her experience of them with a viewer.
Based in North Somerset, Mandi enjoys daily walks in the countryside with her dog. These walks feed her inspiration, especially when treated to sightings of wild birds such as buzzards, kestrels and kingfishers. Her walks also allow valuable head space where creative ideas develop and evolve.
Mandi exhibits throughout the UK and sells both locally and internationally. In 2014 Mandi's painting 'Feathered Friend' was a finalist of The David Shepherd Wildlife Artist Of The Year Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London and she was shortlisted again the following year with 'Soul Free'. In March 2017, Mandi was invited ti be Artist in Residence at Nature in Art, Gloucester, where she exhibited her feathers and demonstrated feather-painting techniques.
A Council member of TWASI (The Wildlife Art Society International), Mandi exhibits annually and has won several awards for her feather paintings, including 'Best Work On Paper' 2016, the 'Christopher Parsons Award for Artistic Excellence' in 2017 and she was awarded a 'Highly Commended' in 2018
