Andrew Johnson
Andrew is a talented painter specialising in both watercolour and oils. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Watercolour Society and CCA Galleries.
Residing in Devon, Andrew is inspired by the beauty of local landscapes and coastal scenes where he paints en plein air as it provides an immediacy to his art. He is also a keen architecture artist and frequently depicts Exeter Cathedral. Painting is a way of life and Andrew can often be seen painting while on family holidays in this country and abroad.
Andrew has paintings in private collections in Australia, South Africa and the United States. He is influenced by several well-known artists such as Peter De Wint, David Cox, John Sell Cotman and the late James Paterson of Bideford with whom he went on many local painting excursions.
Andrew has taught watercolour painting through local authority adult education courses and painting holidays in the Greek Islands of Cephalonia and Paxos. Andrew is also a master glazier and runs a stained glass business which involves conserving windows, designing and making new windows for ecclesiastical and secular buildings.
