Lexi Chambers

Lexi Alyx Chambers grew up in West Sussex and Hampshire but settled in Devon 20 years ago after leaving the British army due to injury. She then retrained as an NHS registered nurse. Throughout her life she has always painted, and even designed the backdrops for an officer’s ball in the military.

Now Lexi lives at the quayside in Exeter. "I have lived here for almost 6 years and am always astounded by how beautiful it is, and how diverse the local wildlife".

Lexi is completely self-taught, and has experimented with a variety of mediums, but it is only in the past 6 years where she has found her focus in wildlife using pastel pencils. "I love the level of detail and freedom that pastels allow. I am a passionate animal lover and can lose myself for hours in details of fur and feathers".

Lexi was shortlisted for the Jacksons art prize in 2016 for her piece 'After the chase', she has also been shortlisted in 2020, for Mall Galleries annual exhibition for her piece 'Contemplation'. Lexi has exhibited her work in Galleries in Lancaster, Otterton, and the royal Devon & Exeter hospital. She has had a solo exhibition at the Custom House at Exeter Quay, and another planned this year.
